When putting a link on forums or anyplace else that is in reference to a splash page, I like to keep that link as clean as possible.

Example: I would rather post a link http://newconcepts.bybweb.com/Ebook as opposed to http://find-stuff-online.com/freestuff-newconcepts.htm . The Ebook is cleaner than the url found on find-stuff-online.com in my opinion. Besides, I keep the branding that the newconcepts.bybweb does for me. (If the subject of branding is new to you, reply and ask)

Jeff recently pointed out that the redirect icon on our cpanel screen is much easier to use than previously learned make a folder, put in redirect codes, etc. I just found out that Jeff is right on target. Redirect is very easy to use.

Just click on the redirect icon and a screen will appear that you first enter what you want:

First box I type in Ebook. The next box to the right I type in the actual url for the splash page. http:// is to the right of the box so I type in 'find-stuff-online.com/freestuff-newconcepts.htm'

The box below has 'temporary' in it but with a pull down arrow to give you a choice. I want to make this redirect permanent so I choose 'permanent'.

Then I click the 'add' button and that's all there is to it.

Just to make sure I make no mistakes, I then put the new url in my browser address line and make sure the correct page appears. If you make a mistake (like I did) just reenter the correct information in the 2 upper boxes. I did remove the link before I reentered the correct info, but I am not sure it is necessary to do so.

This is a neat way to redirect any page you might have. You can even redirct the url through our adtracker or any other adtracker. I haven't tried this yet but this would give you tracking of your hits plus still keeping the self branding effect of using your byb subdomain name. No one would really know that you are using an adtracker.

Hope this little bit of information helps someone. Feel free to ad any little tips you are using.

I mentiioned branding and self branding in the previous post and thought that an explanation might be useful.

I have found that whatever I do on the web, whether it is posting on the forums, using traffic exchanges or whatever, it is very helpful to be recognized. Wherever possible I want a link in my signature file to refer to my newconcepts.bybweb domain name. This becomes part of my signature and along with putting my picture on stuff, it brands my post.

People who see my picture and my signature recognize me and tend to stop and read the post (If I have established a reason to do so in the past).

This is what I mean by branding or self branding. It becomes my trademark so to speak and believe me, I have seen the results. Not only have I gotten calls and people have signed up in BYB because of what they have read on the forums, but I have seen a steady progression when I search my name on Google. A couple of months ago, my name didn't show up until the 7 or 8th page of Dave Fullmers. Now I see my name on the first page of the Dave Fullmers. In my opinion, this is a result of my efforts to brand myself.

This is all part of the "tricks of the trade". I don't pretend to know a whole lot about this marketing on the internet thing, but what I have learned is that a consistent participation on several forums pays off and quicker than you might think. (I joined BYB on August 1, this year and had NO success on the internet for the previous 5 years. This is the value of belonging on a team like NetIncome)

Hope this helps someone.

Dave
